Marketing Yourself And Your Melaleuca Business Through Attraction And Articles

Today I'm going to be talking about two topics, the first is something I think each and everyone of you should be applying to your Melaleuca business, which is attraction marketing, and the 2nd is an advanced marketing method - article marketing - which you can choose to use IF you want to use. It's not necessary or required so I want to make it clear, especially to those of you who are new, not to be overwhelmed by the information today.

So the title of this training is Marketing Yourself And Your Melaleuca Business Through Attraction And Articles.

Let me explain first what I mean about marketing yourself.

When you're in a home based business, a direct sales business like we have here, and if and when you're focusing on building a team and helping distributors get started here, you have to understand that your prospects are not buying a product or joining your Melaleuca business. They are buying YOU. The way YOU act and behave in your interactions is going to lead to your results, and whether people join you or not.

Simply put, if you are not having the success you want, you need to take a close look at yourself. Perhaps you're not focusing on what's most important to your prospect.

Your prospect is looking to follow a leader. They want to work with someone who can show them how to succeed. They should be impressed with you first, then impressed with the products and Melaleuca business model. IN fact, if you're doing this correctly, you may have people join you who don't even have a good idea of what the product or Melaleuca business is, because they wasn't the basis of their decision.

So really, you need to market YOURSELF in order to achieve big success. Which means that you need to lead with your personality, your confidence and your posture when speaking with your prospects.

If you go out there and immediately talk about your products or how fantastic your Melaleuca business is, you will run people off faster than you can blink. People don't want to know that first and foremost. They want to know you, they want to know if they like you, if they can trust you, and if you will help them be successful.

Now you can be that person even if you're brand new to the Melaleuca business. It could be your first day, and all you need to do is KNOW in your heart of hearts that you have something so valuable to offer people and go out there with the mindset that you can help others with what we have. Even if you have no idea how to do the Melaleuca business, know what you have is a SYSTEM, a support and training system that will teach and coach everyone who plugs into it, to success.

When you get on the phone you need to be in the proper mindset. You need to know you've got it goin' on...that doesn't mean you have to be arrogant or boastful, but you simply want to be confident, cheerful, excited and personable.

Again, your prospect is first and foremost judging YOU, not your product or Melaleuca business. If you do not go into your calls with a certain level of confidence you will NEVER even get the chance to show your prospect the product or the Melaleuca business.

Therefore, each and every time before you start making your prospecting calls, make sure your mindset is in place. You should be feeling: happy, confident, excited, relaxed, expectant and joyful in the moment.

If you are feeling frustrated, unsure, wishy washy, angry, fearful, or any other negative emotion DO NOT GET ON THE PHONE.

We say all the time that mindset is 80-90% of the Melaleuca business. The reason is because everything you're thinking and feeling comes across in your tone of voice, the words you choose, and how you react and respond to others. If you're calm and relaxed and confident, your natural personality will flow and people will connect with you.

If you're not, you will seem stilted, nervous, robotic and fearful. No one will join your Melaleuca business no matter how incredible it is, if you're acting in that negative way. Because people won't give you the benefit of the doubt. If you sound down, they are going to immediately assume that it's because of your Melaleuca business. They don't know, and at this point they don't care if you had a bad day, you're feeling poorly, you just had a family crisis.

So you absolutely have to be in the proper mindset when you get on the phone.

So, when you do get on the phone, sell yourself first. Show your prospects what a great person you are, simply in your voice, your posture. It's a first call business don't let a bad day or a stray negative thought ruin what you could your next distributor your next 1000 sale, your next 4500 sale and so on.

So that is, in a nutshell, attraction marketing, as it pertains to that initial call to your prospect. You can also use this strategy in social networking, on facebook and so forth, by putting yourself out there so people can get to know you. Lots of pictures, showing what fun you're having in life, in your Melaleuca business that's a whole other training in itself but I think you get the point, which is you are really selling YOU. Everything else is secondary.

That's another reason why personal development courses and the conferences are so vital to your success, because you will grow as a person and therefore be much happier and confident, and that will automatically help your Melaleuca business.

Now I'd like to talk a bit about a more advanced method of advertising, and that is article marketing.

So, one way to attract customers and interested parties to you is through articles that you have written about a particular topic, that provides people with valuable and useful information.

Writing articles is a way to get yourself out there, allow people to learn about you. It's a way to actually position yourself as an expert in a certain area of knowledge. Through articles you can be seen as an authority in your Melaleuca business, someone to look up to, a leader to follow.

These articles are something you publish on the internet, and what's cool is these articles are then "out there" forever. They get shared and circulated around the internet, provided that they offer good information.

Now you can write your own articles, and I highly recommend this if you can because that's the whole idea of attraction - putting yourself and your personality into that article, but if not, there are services out there that will write articles for you. You can actually find some of these in by searching under marketing and articles.

Now there are many ways to market articles and get them out there, which I will cover here, but first I'd like to discuss WHY we might choose to market articles and what purpose it will serve.

3 purposes of article marketing.

To get indexed by the search engines for the keywords you specify - so for example, if your article is about work at home parents, then you'd want to be using those kinds of keywords in the title and throughout the article and the idea is to have your article come up when people search for those keywords on the search engines like google.

The 2nd purpose of article marketing is to pre-sell your eventual offer - in other words, within your article you want to position the information to make your product or service sound attractive and intriguing. You don't want to be over the top - articles that are clearly just advertisements about your Melaleuca business won't create the effect. Essentially what you want to do is create an environment where your Melaleuca product or Melaleuca business makes sense to the reader, without blatantly advertising it.

3rd, You want to drive people who want to read your article to your Melaleuca website/capture page so you can place them into your marketing pipeline - in other words, drive them to your Melaleuca marketing funnel website, so you can call them, send them auto responders and keep in touch with them.

Additionally, article marketing provides other benefits. It can:

Position you as an expert in a particular field or industry - so people look up to you and see you as knowledgeable in your Melaleuca business.

Give you credibility - not your Melaleuca  company, not your Melaleuca  product, but YOU. Because marketing YOU is key in any direct sales or network marketing business. You attract people through your projection of leadership and service, because you are providing them with valuable information for free.

It really allows people to get to know you a bit and get more comfortable with you and create a connection before you even talk to them.

When you're writing articles that offer valuable, useful information to the reader, you can submit them to article submission web sites. What are there? Well, they are websites where your article can be accessed and read by others, it can be posted in multiple places, and in fact, website owners will take that article and post it on their website because it has something to do with their website content. Many website owners repeatedly provide their web site visitors with fresh news and information, oftentimes in the form of articles that other people have written.

Again, there are a ton of article submission sites listed on the internet. Submitting articles can be tedious work, but there are some ways to get around that, which I'll discuss in a minute.

So, how does an article work for you, and bring people to your Melaleuca website? Well, as I mentioned you can't make it solely advertising for your Melaleuca business, there is a fine line you can walk in terms of turning someone's interest towards your eventual product or service, or turning them away because they clearly see you are simply advertising. The majority of the interest comes because you've provided great information and people become curious about who you are and what you do. They see you as an expert, they see you as successful, and they wonder about you.

So, at the bottom of your article you put what's called a "resource box". This is basically a place to list information about the author.

For example, it could say something like "(YOUR FULL NAME has been a successful entrepreneur for over 5 years. Her mission is to help others achieve success working from home around their families. To learn more about YOUR FIRST NAME and her business visit www.yourwebsite.com"

As you can see, it makes sense to write articles about something that you are knowledgeable about, something that the reader will identify with, and to be attracting readers who may be interested in your Melaleuca product or service. Using the at-home parent example again if you are an at-home parent, you could write useful information for other at-home parents such as time management, structuring your day, how to leverage your time and work smart, how to separate work time from family time, and so forth. Someone reading that article would clearly be interested in those topics, and therefore could be a potential prospect for your at-home Melaleuca business - especially if you've positioned yourself as a leader and a success.

And I should mention, even if you're just getting started, you can do this. You don't have to feel like you have to already be making six figures before you can write articles like this. You have valuable knowledge that you can share, and believe me, projecting an image and feelings of success and contentment with your life, even if it's a work in progress, will bring those qualities to you through the law of attraction.

In fact, I've made over a hundred thousand dollars in my business by simply marketing one single article I wrote over two years ago. Yes, you don't have to write articles every day or every week. You simply have to write something that makes sense to the reader and generates interest in you and what you are doing.

Now I'm going to briefly cover the structure of an article.

Title - catch their attention and let the reader know what to expect from the article

Opening Sentence - put effort into this, let the reader know how they will benefit from continuing reading

The Body - vital information, solutions to their problems, better to over-deliver on your promises than to have a weak article

The Close - summarize and come to a conclusion - sometimes people skip to this part first so a good summary will help them go back and take a closer look.

Resource Box - as mentioned, this is where you can talk about yourself and give your Melaleuca website.

So, once you have your article written and your resource box at the end, it's time to get it out there.

There are a TON of ways to get your article, and therefore your Melaleuca website out there.

 

1) already mentioned, article submission sites. This is free, but time consuming. There are various software programs out there that will do this for you, I've heard good things about Article Submitter by Brad Callen - he has a free and a paid version, and I can't tell you how well they work because I haven't used them myself, but it's certainly something you can look into, specifically if you plan to write and submit a lot of articles. Some people who use this method extensively write one article a week. In that case you may want to look into the software. Otherwise, you can do it by hand. Essentially what you'll do is go to the submission site, and enter the details of the article - generally the author's name, Title of article, brief description (this is important, make sure your keywords are in the description) and the article and resource box. You can simply copy and paste this information in. Each website is different as to exactly how you submit the article, but they are pretty step by step instructions.

2) Next, there are many online forums you can join that are in line with your article content, and many allow you to post your articles for free there. These are a great way to get targeted people looking at your article.

3) You can advertise your free article on many websites, classified sites, craigslist, backpage, and so forth. Now I'm not going to go into depth into how to write ads, that of course is a whole other topic, but you would want to do something short, starting with a interest generating headline, next line would be a benefit - what they will get out of your article, maybe a 3rd line if needed, then followed by your website. When you're doing this kind of advertising, it is VITAL that the website you guide them to is very clear and in line with your ad. So for example, you might set up an ad talking about your article that helps work at home parents. But then you CAN'T send them to your Melaleuca biz opp movie. That isn't in line with the ad - they are going to be looking for your article. Therefore, this is where you can do one of two things - you can create your own lead capture page in your Marketing funnel making sure it's very clear that when they fill out the form they will receive your free report - OR you can set up a separate lead capture page on another web site. I'll talk more about that in a minute.

4) Additionally you can do paid advertising on web sites as well, specifically on sites that are in line with the content of your article. for example, if you wrote a report on how to maintain success as a business owner and at-home parent, you can advertise both for free by posting the article on at-home parent websites (where they will read the article right there and see your resource box) as well as by paying for advertising that sends your prospect to a lead capture page. It is always better to capture a lead, than to just hope they are going to click on your link and view the website.

5) You can advertise on google, and send them to your lead capture page. This is definitely the most expensive way to get your article out there, but it can create pretty much instant leads and traffic, and if anyone is interested in advertising on google I strongly recommend that you learn more about it first, the best training is found through perry marshall, he has both an ebook you can download as well as a book at the bookstore. But essentially when you're advertising your article and sending them to a lead capture page, what you are doing is giving them an incentive to opt-in to receiving emails and information from you, and at that point they become a lead.

6) Another strategy which I haven't used much but can be utilized is to publish a partial article, then give a web site (a lead capture page) where people can go to get the remained of the article. Again, that's incentive for them to opt-in, and they become a lead.

7) Last but certainly not least, you can actually make money from your article and get leads at the same time. Ebay is the best place to do this you can put up an ebay auction for your article for a small price, could be 99 cents, 4.99, 6.99 or something low like that, certainly you want it to be inline with the value of the information you've written, and when you make that sale the customer is automatically provided with the download link, you have created a new lead for yourself, and you've also gotten paid. This is very different since we're so used to paying for leads, right, but this is a great way to actually get paid for generating leads. Again, you HAVE to be providing valuable content otherwise you could get poor feedback and unhappy customers and therefore defeating the whole purpose.

So, the above methods are showing you two ways of getting leads - one is thru the curiosity factor, and you have to rely on whether that person is going to click on the link, and what they choose to do from that point. This is accomplished through the resource box, where people will click to learn more about you and your business after they've come across the article online. This link could be to your Marketing funnel movie (with picture and bio), a personal website you've created, it could be your facebook profile! The possibilities are endless, you just want to think about how you want to project yourself, about what kind of image you are sending. You want to be VERY CAREFUL that you don't appear to be blatantly marketing and advertising. Again the key is to create curiosity so people want to learn more. And really, that's what we do here, we're not out there "selling" something, we are simply guiding people through a series of exposures so they can take a look at what we have. Articles and your web site/lead capture page are simply attractors to bring people to you, and each exposure to you, your articles and your website is another step towards showing them the ultimate information which of course is the Melaleuca business presentation. So, the first method is to simply guide people to you after they've read the article.

The other method of generating leads from articles is to guide them to a lead capture page before they read the article so you are capturing their info and they become a lead. This is by far the best way, but I recommend using both strategies.

Anytime you are giving the article to someone - so I'm not talking about submitting it article sites, what I mean is, if you are going to be giving it to someone - maybe they opt in and request it, maybe they buy it on ebay, you'll want to have your article in a format that people can't edit or change, since it's your article. - such as a .pdf file. What I did is simply write the article in Word, then convert is using a free pdf converter. I use Primo PDF, but there are many out there. Whatever you choose, I think it's best to download programs from download.com - they are virus free and safe.

OK, so we talked about various ways to get your article out there, both free and paid. The more you write, the better the information you provide, the more traffic you will get. The higher quality of information will provide you with happier prospects who want to know more about you, about what you do.

Finally, again, know your purpose. Know who you are trying to attract with that article, how you are going to capture their information, how will you contact them and how will you continually reach them thru your auto responders. Know your target market and cater to it.

To summarize, article marketing can be a great way to generate traffic and interest in YOU and what you do. It's not a quick fix to get leads/prospects, it's not a guaranteed lead flow such as if you buy leads, but it certainly can be a way to add to your lead flow, be one of several options you can use to generate leads/prospects. You can really decide on your own budget here, and go the totally free route, or you can get more advanced and spent money on advertising and so forth. Most importantly, you are getting YOURSELF out there, you're leading with YOU and that is absolutely the best way to find Melaleuca business partners and make sales.
